Whistles that have never sounded
Abstract
The collection of Nasca ceramic whistles of Cahuachi origin (found in 2008) consists of instruments whose process of construction has never been finished. Some of them are preserved in the whole, while the others retained in separate pieces. All of them lack pigmentation, they did not go through the last step of production, which was firing process. The advancement of their preparation reflects the process of construction. These objects are formed and dried so both their shapes and their acoustic features seem to be clear. And yet the analysis of the other known whistles shows that these objects are tiny but involve huge space of dramaturgy each: the sonorous-visual information is ambivalent.
