El Movimiento Regenerador de Sierra Gorda (1847- 1849)

Sierra Gorda is a region consisting of the northern part of the Mexican state of Querétaro, and smaller portions Guanajuato, Hidalgo and San Luis Potosí. Between 1847 and 1849 the region saw the emergence of a peasant movement known as Movimiento Regenerador de Sierra Gorda (The Regeneration Movement of Sierra Gorda) which initiated the Sierra Gorda Rebellion at the same time. The article describes the history, characteristics and goals of this movement.
